The May 1957 issue, No. 94, of Epikaira Eikonografimena, a Greek-language monthly photo-news sheet filed with U.S. Information Agency posters. A grid of captioned photographs covers an air congress in Athens, M-47 tanks delivered at Piraeus and a NATO ministers' meeting; the imprint says it is distributed free by the American information service (NAID 6948788).
What the sheet is
A wall newspaper made of photographs. The archive describes the May 1957 issue as a grid of captioned pictures. Its items include an air-policy congress in Athens, U.S. and Greek officials meeting, a delivery of M-47 tanks under military aid at Piraeus, and a meeting of NATO foreign ministers. The record transcribes the masthead, the date line, a section headline and the imprint. It leaves the many small captions in polytonic Greek untranscribed.

Who put it out
The imprint answers that question on the sheet itself: distributed free by the American information service. FRAME accordingly classes the source as openly identified. Behind it, on the record's maker line, stand the U.S. Information Agency and its State Department predecessor program; the series is the agency's posters for Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The catalog date in the record is 1 January 1957, although the sheet is dated May; this page gives both and does not reconcile them. No print run is recorded.
How to read it
FRAME tags it card stacking and transfer. The sheet carries only items favourable to the United States and its Greek and NATO partners, and the standing of allies and ceremonies passes to U.S. policy. That is a house organ's editorial line, and the imprint told readers whose house it was.
The most plainly military item is the tank delivery. A photo of foreign armour arriving at a Greek port, captioned by the government that sent it, is a statement of alliance aimed at the public of the receiving country. The sheet does not invite a reader to weigh the aid; it shows it arriving. The numbered run continues in the archive, and the U.S. Information Agency hub places the photo-news form beside the agency's other sheets. For a European comparison on this site, see the Italian caricature printed for Oltrecortina, Milan and filed with the same posters.
