Pishraft-e Iran ("Progress of Iran") No. 45, a fortnightly Farsi wall sheet filed with U.S. Information Agency posters, catalog date 7 December 1957. Photographs show the Shah decorating a U.S. naval officer, handing land deeds to kneeling farmers and visiting a Mashhad tuberculosis hospital, beside a Voice of America schedule (NAID 6948862).
Deeds handed down, gratitude printed
The land photographs show the Shah handing deeds to kneeling farmers. Their captions read, in the archive's translation, "Yesterday's farmer and today's owner" and "Grateful for the Shah's bounty." Around them on yellow panels are the Shah decorating a U.S. naval officer, his visit to a tuberculosis hospital in Mashhad, and a boxed schedule for the Voice of America.

In the archive's machine translation, which it labels unverified, the masthead line reads "No. 45. This bulletin is published once every two weeks," the land paragraph begins "On Monday 16 Ordibehesht last, some of the royal lands were distributed among the people," and the box says "Listen to the Voice of America at these hours." The heading on the naval visit is marked approximate.
Series and filing
The maker line reads "U.S. Information Agency (predecessor: State Dept. information program)," in the National Archives series Propaganda Posters Distributed in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, catalog date 7 December 1957. FRAME classes the source as blurred and records the purpose as "Warn or inform." Its themes are economy and finance, health, and war and the military.
Royal bounty in an American frame
FRAME tags transfer and testimonial, and its note names the transfer: a U.S. Navy visit and the Voice of America's radio times share a frame with the Shah's land distribution.
Land passing to the people who farm it is good news, and the sheet's caption about owners is the kind of claim a free society can admire. The second caption is harder to admire. "Grateful for the Shah's bounty" casts ownership as a royal gift and the new owners as kneeling recipients. The text calls the land "royal lands." Property received as a ruler's favour is held on different terms from property that is a citizen's right, and the sheet celebrates the first.
The page's sender adds a second layer. A wall sheet printed in Farsi, carrying an American radio schedule, praises a monarch's generosity to his subjects. FRAME's source class is blurred, and the record transcribes no sender's line on the face of the sheet. A reader in Tehran saw the Shah's bounty and the American broadcaster side by side, and was left to draw the connection.
An earlier issue of the same wall sheet, No. 40, covered the Atoms for Peace exhibition at Tehran University and also carried a Voice of America schedule. The program is on the USIA posters abroad hub.
