President Trump's Coronavirus Guidelines for America was a March 2020 household mailer issued by the White House Coronavirus Task Force and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It announced steps under the heading "SLOW THE SPREAD," dated March 16, 2020 (FRAME transcription; CDC Stacks pamphlet "Fifteen days to slow the spread," 3/16/20).
What the card prints
The archive holds a two-sided household card. The front gives the date March 16, 2020, the White House mark, the CDC mark, and the address coronavirus.gov. It is bulk mail to "Postal Customer." The catalog names the makers as the White House Coronavirus Task Force and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
SLOW THE SPREAD
PRESIDENT TRUMP'S CORONAVIRUS GUIDELINES FOR AMERICA
THE WHITE HOUSE CDC
MARCH 16, 2020
EVEN IF YOU ARE YOUNG, OR OTHERWISE HEALTHY, YOU ARE AT RISK AND YOUR ACTIVITIES CAN INCREASE THE RISK FOR OTHERS. IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU DO YOUR PART TO SLOW THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS.
The reverse tells the reader to follow state and local authorities, to stay home if sick, to keep a sick child home, to keep a household home after a positive test, and to stay away from other people if older or seriously ill. It also says to work or study from home when possible, to avoid social gatherings of more than ten people, to use pickup or delivery instead of eating in bars and restaurants, to avoid discretionary travel, and not to visit nursing homes except to give critical help. A hygiene list covers hands, face, coughs, and surfaces.
The pamphlet titled fifteen days
CDC Stacks holds a separate pamphlet, corporate authors the Executive Office of the President and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, publication date 3/16/20, titled "Fifteen days to slow the spread: the President's coronavirus guidelines for America." The household card's transcription does not include the words "fifteen days." The card and the pamphlet share the date, the two institutional marks, and the same class of instructions. The phrase people search, "15 days to slow the spread," is the pamphlet's title. The White House archive page "Coronavirus Guidelines for America" is dated March 16, 2020.
"Stay home, save lives"
That slogan is not the heading of this card. It was used by other offices in the same month. Oregon Executive Order 20-12, issued by the Governor of Oregon, is titled "Stay Home, Save Lives" and orders people to stay at their place of residence. CDC Stacks holds an April 2020 public-service item, corporate authors the Advertising Council and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, titled "Staying home saves lives." Those are separate issuers from the March 16 card. They belong on this page because the slogan is searched beside the guidelines, not because the card prints it. "Slow the Spread" and "Staying home saves lives" are both on the COVID-19 slogans and PSAs page.
