Four Freedoms posters

Four Freedoms posters here are Norman Rockwell's 1941 paintings as issued with the Office of War Information, and the OWI bond sheets that add "Buy War Bonds" under speech and worship. NARA identifiers are the ones printed on each FRAME record.

The set in the snapshot is four paintings Norman Rockwell made for The Saturday Evening Post in 1941, carried with the Office of War Information, plus OWI sheets that place "Ours... to fight for" or "Buy War Bonds" on those pictures. Freedom of Speech is NAID 513536. Freedom of Worship is NAID 513537. Freedom from Want is NAID 513539. Freedom from Fear is NAID 513538. The one-sheet of all four is NAID 513635. The bond sheet "Save Freedom of Speech" is NAID 513711. "Save Freedom of Worship" is NAID 513712. Separate "Ours... to fight for" sheets for want and fear are NAID 513710 and NAID 513666.

Two of the paintings already have essays on this site: Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Worship. Those essays keep their own argument about the First Amendment. This page is the set, with the identifier on each card. Cards without an essay open the FRAME record. The pictures stay on propagandaarchive.org.

The bond lines ask the viewer to buy. The paintings' own imprints say they were painted for the Post. A magazine commission and a later government sheet are both in the records above. The Office of War Information is the agency on the government sheets. The wartime topic that pictures Nazi Germany is anti-Nazi propaganda, which links here because the bond sheets sit next to that office's other posters, not because the paintings name a party.
