U.S. Information Agency poster gallery, 1950–1969
Sixty-two sheets from the U.S. Information Agency and State Department poster files in the FRAME snapshot, dated 1950 to 1969 and printed for audiences in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Each card prints the identifier the archive records, and the image stays on propagandaarchive.org.
This grid is a selection, not the whole file. The snapshot holds 907 objects dated 1950 to 1969 whose maker line names the U.S. Information Agency, a State Department information program, or a USIS post. Many are the same poster in several languages. This page shows one card per title, prefers the English or bilingual edition when the snapshot holds one, and spreads the cards across the years and the posts. Every poster this site has written up from that set is included, and those cards open the essay here. The London Why Viet Nam pamphlet is a booklet, not a poster, and is linked from the hub instead. The rest open the FRAME record.
The line under each title is the date the archive gives, usually the National Archives catalog date, and the identifiers it records. Some sheets carry a series identifier instead of an item number, and a few carry none. Where the line says "no primary id in the snapshot," this page does not supply one.
Two of the cards credit someone else first, with the agency as distributor: an Italian sheet credited to a Milan publisher and a Jordanian health poster credited to the Jordan Ministry of Health and the American Operations Mission. Sheets from the joint public affairs office in Saigon and a 1976 sheet are left out, as explained on the hub page. FRAME classes 52 of the 62 sheets here as blurred: the American sender is not shown on the sheet itself. That is the point the hub makes about the program, and the gallery lets a reader check it.
